Aesthetic Skin Care: Look Your Best, Feel Your Best

A good aesthetic consultation starts with the skin concern, medical history and realistic goals—not a pre-selected procedure or guaranteed result.

Aesthetic skin care focuses on appearance-related concerns such as uneven texture, pigmentation, acne marks, visible pores, dullness or signs of skin ageing. These concerns are common and do not need treatment unless they matter to you.

Professional assessment is important because skin type, active conditions, medicines, previous procedures, pregnancy or breastfeeding, scarring history and pigmentation risk can change which options are suitable.

Medical skin problems come before elective treatment

Do not proceed with an elective aesthetic treatment when there is an acute or unexplained skin problem.

  • A painful, rapidly spreading, blistering or infected-looking rash
  • Facial swelling, breathing difficulty or another severe allergic reaction
  • An open wound, active skin infection or significant skin-barrier injury
  • A new, changing, bleeding or non-healing lesion that needs medical assessment

What is aesthetic skin care?

Aesthetic care uses non-surgical or minimally invasive approaches to address appearance-related skin or hair concerns. A consultation should explain the proposed treatment, alternatives, expected course, limitations, possible adverse effects, aftercare and current cost before consent.

Medical Dermatology and Aesthetics overlap, but they are not the same. Persistent acne, eczema, psoriasis, infection, allergy or an unexplained lesion should start with medical assessment.

Acne marks, texture and pigmentation

Acne marks and scars vary in type and depth. Pigmentation may relate to melasma, sun exposure, hormones or inflammation. No single procedure is appropriate for every scar or pigment concern, and treatment can itself cause irritation or post-inflammatory colour change.

Assessment helps determine whether medical acne control, sun protection, a procedural option or a combination should be considered.

Dullness, early ageing changes and dark circles

Dryness, rough texture, reduced radiance, fine lines or dark circles can have several contributors. Aesthetic care may be one option, but sleep, sun exposure, skin-barrier care, allergies, anatomy and medical factors may also matter.

The goal should be an informed, proportionate plan—not perfection or pressure to look younger. Individual response and the duration of any visible change vary.

Aesthetic consultation is not limited by gender

People of any gender may ask about acne marks, pigmentation, oily skin, unwanted hair, texture or ageing-related concerns. The same standards of assessment, consent, privacy and realistic expectations apply to everyone.

What should be discussed before treatment?

  • Your main concern and what a realistic improvement would mean to you
  • Current skin conditions, allergies, medicines and previous procedures
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding and any history of scarring or pigmentation
  • Expected course, possible adverse effects, recovery and aftercare
  • Alternative options, the right to decline and the current total cost
